I grew up Catholic, went to 12 yrs of Catholic schools, converted to Eastern Orthodoxy at age 18. I then spent 27 years in an Orthodox monastery which I left in 2000. All the infighting, polemicism & many other beliefs and attitudes prevalent among the 'traditionalist' Orthodox made me feel that wasn't what Christ came to give the world.

My faith journey began at the Church of the Good Shepherd while being raised in Augusta, Georgia. I had some excellent mentors as an adolescent. I discerned a call to the priesthood during and after my undergraduate at Davidson College. I am married to Melanie, a student at Fordham University.

The Book of Ezra is about rebuilding the house of God and my decision to join the Ezra project, made a little over a month ago, was based on the word ‘rebuild’, a word that to me says that we will be working hard.
